The Republican Party's top strategist in the 2012 election would rather see Hillary Clinton as the next president than Donald Trump.
"Personally, I think Hillary Clinton would be a better president than Donald Trump because I think that Donald Trump is a dangerous person and is someone who would embarrass America," Stuart Stevens, who advised 2012 nominee Mitt Romney, said Tuesday on Bloomberg's "With All Due Respect."
"I have no desire to see Hillary Clinton as president of the United States," he added. "But if this is the choice -- I will not give her my vote, but I can't support Donald Trump."
Seems like I’ve read a number of diaries using “friend of my enemy” logic, whenever some right-wing outfit or another does something that “benefits” Bernie Sanders. For example, the Republican super PAC American Crossroads has been criticizing Clinton for her Wall Street speaking fees, which allegedly “helps Sanders”. HRC supporters tell us, “The GOP is only doing that because they know how easy Bernie will be to beat in the general … let’s not give them what they want ...”
According to Terkel, the Republican Party's top strategist would rather see Clinton elected over Trump. Let’s mull on this news for a bit, shall we?
I know the right hates Clinton profoundly, they won’t vote for her. And that is supported by this comment from Stevens, he apparently would abstain from voting.
But the idea of those at the top actually hating Trump more is fascinating … What could possibly be the reason why? Obviously the answer given in the interview is complete bullshit … Dangerous person? Embarrass America? When have such notions ever stopped the GOP before?
Maybe HRC supporters should stop and think more about the fact that uber-elites on the Republican side appreciate all the time, money, and energy that you are putting into electing Hillary Clinton. By giving her the Democratic nomination, you are enabling their Plan B. Kudos, I guess.
I have to wonder how Stevens would act if his choice was between Trump and Sanders. Something tells me that he wouldn’t feel quite so comfortable about throwing away his vote in that contest.
